Ask the locksmith: When do you need to change the locks, or just rekey it?

There is a huge difference when it comes to rekeying a lock and just simply replacing it. When you are talking about having a locksmith Oakland replace your locks you are talking about a whole job in which the locksmith would scrap everything and just put in new shinny locks. Something that can be done if you do not want to waste time with old locks and perfect for old rusty parts as well!

If you want to have your lock rekeyed meaning you have lost your key or you have given it to someone and that someone is not your friend anymore or something like that. What a locksmith does is he simply replacing the insides of the lock and makes a new key for you. It would cost lesser and would maintain the old fixture of the lock but using a new key. So which one would you need done by your locksmith? Change the locks? Or just simply rekey it?
